POS (point of sale)

Scale
October 6, 2026

POS offers show as a tile to staff in the Shopify POS app, accepted with one tap and scoped by retail location through the Retail Locations rule. POS is deliberately minimal: standard behavior only, and no display or translation settings.

POS is a different kind of surface from the other 12: it's staff-facing, not shopper-facing. An eligible offer appears as a tile inside the Shopify POS app for the staff member running the sale, accepted with a single tap, rather than as a storefront element a shopper browses to on their own.

It's also the most minimal context by a wide margin — standard behavior only, no auto-add, swap, mix & match, or popup; no cart-total or product-page Smart Rules; no display, layout, or translation settings in this version. The one targeting dimension unique to this surface is retail location, which scopes an offer to specific physical stores rather than being available storewide the way other contexts default to.

If you're evaluating whether this surface fits a retail-plus-online store, treat the above as a technical description of what's configured, not a confirmation that this is a generally available, supported feature — that's worth checking directly before committing to it.

Capabilities

Limitations

Standard behavior mode only — no auto-add, swap, mix & match, or popup. No cart-total or product-page conditions. No styling, layout, or translation settings in v1. Plan requirement is our best estimate and should be confirmed before publishing — this surface has no existing marketing or help-center coverage.
